About SMSF Advisers Network (SAN)

SAN is an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) owned and operated by the NTAA.  Its purpose is to support its members for the provision of Self-Managed Superannuation Fund advice with the removal of the accountant’s exemption.

Since July 2016, accountants must be licensed under an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) to be able to provide advice to their clients in relation to Superannuation and SMSF’s.

These reforms have left many accountants unable to service their existing SMSF client base unless they align themselves with a full licenced AFSL.

The NTAA understands that there are certain requirements in operating under a full licenced AFSL and are seeking to operate the SMSF Advisers Network from the perspective of the accountant. We appreciate that you are already running a busy and successful accountancy practice and do not necessarily have the desire or time to operate a full-service financial planning operation.

In this manner, the SMSF Advisers Network AFSL restricts authorisation to advise in relation to a clients’ SMSF needs.  The authorisation will allow members to advise clients not only on the set-up of an SMSF but also the change to pension, the establishment of LRBA structures as well as specific contribution levels, rollovers and the provision of an asset class investment strategy based on the individual member's investor risk profile.

SMSF Advisers Network is your support for the ongoing advice you wish to give to clients concerning Superannuation and SMSFs.
